How To Apply

To be considered for a Student Placement, please complete the online application and attach the following documents:

  2. Current Working with Children Check
  3. Current Police Check (less than 12 months old)
  4. 100 points of identification (Driver’s license, Passport, or VISA). National Police Check 100 point checklist (afp.gov.au)
  5. Working Visa/Student visa/ Permanant residency
  6. NDIS – WC (Apply for an NDISWC | Service NSW)
  7. WWCC check (New Application – NSW Working with Children Check)
  8. International driver license (must have DKT booked to get NSW Driver license in next 3 months) Driver Knowledge Test | Service NSW

Preparing students for a career in disability requires an ongoing commitment to learning and staying updated with the latest research, best practices, and advancements in the field.

Here are some key areas to focus on when preparing students for such a career:
Understanding Disabilities

Provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various disabilities, including physical, sensory, cognitive, and developmental disabilities. Teach them about the specific characteristics, challenges, and strengths associated with each disability type.

Legislation and Policies

Familiarize students with local and national legislation and policies related to disability rights, accessibility, and inclusion. This includes laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in the United States or the Equality Act in the United Kingdom.

Inclusive Education

Emphasize the importance of inclusive education and the role of educators in promoting inclusive practices. Help students understand how to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with disabilities.

Individualized Education Plans

Teach students about the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans, which outline specific educational goals and accommodations for students with disabilities. Provide them with strategies for working collaboratively with parents.

Students who wish to complete a work placement with Expert Care services will need to provide a copy of their resume, a clear police check, a Working with Children Check and 100 points of ID.

Student placement opportunities are available at:

  • Shared Living Homes
  • Short Term Accommodations (Respite)

Yes, you must be at least 18 years of age to complete student placement at Expert Care services.
